Trenchless Equipment’s Pipe Expanding Bursting Heads

Pipe Expanding Burst Heads

Contractors expect their pipe replacement equipment to be reliable. Trenchless Equipment (TE) has spent a number of years working closely with the pipeline contractors refining its pipe bursting equipment in order to exceed expectations. First, TE starts out with the strongest metal to mill into a pipe bursting head. Second, we “through-harden” the material to ensure the bursting heads last 3 to 4 times longer than bursting heads made with mild steel and case hardened. Normally “through-hardening” creates a strong but brittle material that can fracture. However, TE has thoroughly tested its hardening process to insure our burst heads are strong enough to resist wearing and are ductile or have the ability to flex so they can stand up to the rigors of underground pipe replacement. Our burst heads are pipe expanding burst heads. As you tighten our burst heads inside a high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE), the expander expands the pipe in order to maintain a connection to the HDPE pipe while it is being installed. TE offers this option in its 4, 6 and 8 inch bursting heads. In addition, TE extends its industry leading 3-Year warranty for our bursting heads.

The 4, 6, and 8 inch burst heads come with 3 blades allowing the pipe splitting action to break the pipe symmetrically.  The bursting process split or burst the pipeline apart and spread the ground cover apart in order to make way for the new pipe being pulled into place. The burst heads have a closed socket connection to connect to an open closed socket connection that is swaged to a Wire rope. This connection allows a close-hole entry in tight configurations or small entry pits.
